Words and Ideas Can Change the World

Robin-Williams-Quotes-1.jpeg

Some people come into your life and leave an indelible mark, and then there are other people you may never meet but still make the same impact. The latter for me was Robin Williams.

I never met him (obviously). I always loved his work and the magic he tried to spark in others.

Before 2014, I was always “talking” about doing something - anything - to help raise awareness for mental health and depression in men. It led me to a wonderful organization called NAMI, and now I’ve raised more than $3,000 for mental health for NAMI St. Tammany in the last three years. His death seven years ago, along with the death of Chris Cornell three years later, was mind-shattering. It’s still hard for me to fathom that neither one is with us anymore.

Some of the things Robin Williams has said have been adapted into middle school or junior high appropriate #DadLunchNotes, but I’ll never be the talent that he was nor have the presence.

However, Robin Williams left us with an important that: words and ideas can change the world.

You can change the world.
