Dad Lunch Note #610

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2021

Once upon a time (my senior year in high school), I was told by my honors English teacher that I wouldn’t amount to anything in life until jackasses learned to fly. I’ve been gnawing on that bone since I was 17. Since then, I’ve spent the majority of my adult life in school, amassing three degrees, because I did not want people to think I was ignorant. Or less than.

Ironically, the more educated I’ve become and the more education I amass, the lower my confidence. I don’t know if there’s a direct correlation, but we’ve seen firsthand the destruction the combination of confidence and ignorance can inflict.

Take it from this jackass. I’m a doctor.
