Dad Lunch Note #606

THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2021

As a kid, I was shy and got nervous around certain people. I kept to myself and only talked to family and friends. I didn’t have an outgoing personality like my sister. I figured it was because I didn’t have much to say.

It wasn’t until I was older when I realized that I was actually an introvert. When I enter a room or unfamiliar situation, I scan the room, assess potential threats or points of anxiety, and then assemble my words in my mind. I’d rather sit back and watch others talk BEFORE I do.

I never spoke first or spoke more than I listened. As I've gotten older, I'm *writing* more than I speak, but with social media, writing is talking. Our mouths are constantly spewing word vomit left and right, but are we learning anything by talking so much?
